ACADEMIC PROGRESS

Report Cards will be sent to the students in Mid- June. If conferences are needed, please call the Guidance Office for appointments.

Reports cards, distributed four times a year, are preceded by failure notices, if the danger exists.  Such notices should prompt an immediate request on the part of the parent/guardian for a parent-teacher conference and should prompt immediate action on the part of the student.  Parents should also acquaint themselves with our Parent-Student Handbook policies on failures and opportunities for their removal.  If for any reason the parent/guardian does not receive a report card at the end of each quarter, he/she should contact the Guidance Department immediately (732) 382-1952/1950/1951.  Report cards are usually distributed at General Parents' Guild meetings.  Parents must pick up at least the January report card personally.
Students are graded on a letter basis:

A – (93-100)
B – (85-92)
C – (76-84)
D – (70-75
F – (0-69)

In the middle of each marking period, deficiency notices are sent to the parents of students who are in danger of failing.  Although deficiency notices are normally issued in the middle of each marking period, they may be issued at any time.  If a student does not receive a notice at the designated time(s), it would indicate that her work is satisfactory at that point.

If a student receives an incomplete grade, due to illness, it is her responsibility to coordinate this makeup work with her teacher(s) within three weeks.  Otherwise,  zero will be given for the missed assignment(s) and the grade will be averaged accordingly.

Semester averages are determined by giving a one-third value to each of the two marking periods and one-third to the examination.  Final averages are computed by averaging the two semester grades.

Examinations are given in January and in June.  Examination guidelines are issued prior to each examination period.  Examination passes are issued to students whose tuition accounts are up-to-date.  Students must present examination passes to obtain admittance to each examination.  Student accounts must be up to date if the student is to complete examinations.  Upon completion of first semester, students who are failing or who present behavior problems may be requested to leave Mother Seton Regional High School.
